Last year was a momentous year for EdgePoint as it formed strategic partnerships to enhance connectivity for Malaysians. For example, these also led to deployment of digital infrastructure with the likes of Sunway Group, myNews, and Lendlease.
With Sunway Group, it involved Sunway Pyramid, the largest themed mega mall in Malaysia, Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre, and Sunway Medical Centre.
CEO of EdgePoint Towers (EPI), Muniff Kamaruddin said, “We deployed neutral hosted In-Building Coverage (IBC) systems, which are also 5G ready, providing seamless connectivity to the millions entering Sunway City each year.”
He explained how these partnerships also involved diverse companies in different sectors, for example Sunway Group’s largest themed mall in Malaysia, Sunway Pyramid, and even its convention centre and medical centre businesses. myNEWS, the holding company of the retail store chain, also brought along with it, CU, the South Korean convenience store brand.
“Here, we deployed next-generation solutions that enhanced capacity and coverage in myNEWS and CU stores across the Peninsular.
This enables customers to enjoy seamless, efficient extended coverage and enhanced 4G/5G network capacity, crucial for conducting digital payments through eWallets, debit cards, and other cashless payment methods,” Muniff said.
EdgePoint also powered the new Exchange TRX with 5G-ready in-building solutions which meant high speed, seamless connectivity throughout the mall.
Muniff explained, “With all leading Mobile Network Operators on air from day one, Malaysians were able to enjoy increased capacity throughout the 1,300,000 square feet of retail floor space in the mall.
Data analytics is a key part of the organization’s operations as it ensures they provide the best services and products to its customers.
“Partnerships with these organisations enable us to enhance connectivity for Malaysians nationwide.”
No doubt, customer experience was a key factor in the entire decision making process of striking up partnerships.
“We’re constantly on top of our game ensuring we provide the right solutions for Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) to deliver fast and seamless connectivity. We also know that the positive experiences of the end users are what determines a successful partnership, and we work closely with the MNOs to deliver that.”
Partnerships with real-estate locations allowed the quick deployment of digital infrastructure to quickly address capacity congestion, and even coverage in greenfield areas.
“This in turn benefits the MNO’s subscribers who will be able to enjoy a high-quality connection. This is especially important now when most Malaysians are reliant on mobile broadband.”
Enhancing CX with connectivity and operational capability
With large retail or real estate brands fronting the effort of delivering connectivity services, it is often easy to overlook the role that infrastructure players have in enabling service delivery.
Cognizant of the impact of digital infrastructure upon connectivity delivery, Muniff said, “Ensuring we deliver the best service quality and experiences to our customers is a constant top priority and we are always evolving to elevate the experience.
“We have just completed the first phase of digitizing our workflows and asset information management system, our sites are now deployed with smart padlocks while our fleet is equipped with vehicle tracking systems to ensure seamless monitoring and informed actions. “
To enhance its operational capabilities, EdgePoint is even exploring digital twin technologies.
Data analytics is a key part of the organization’s operations as it ensures they provide the best services and products to its customers. For example, it would be able to identify and inform of the locations that would benefit from additional telecommunications infrastructure.
“We also are improving experiences for businesses and end users via a road map that includes deploying small cells and shareable repeaters, fiberizing more sites, hosting edge equipment, exploring alternative transmission technologies, and expanding private network capabilities,”Muniff said.
