Our Editor-at-Large, Daniel CF Ng, reflects on his four decade career in technology and notes how a mutual appreciation led him to a past industry comrade who has since founded next-gen AI solutions builder, Graphen.ai.
Over a 40-year journey, I have come full circle to find myself at Graphen.ai, an unexpected destination that was shaped by intriguing connections and shared passions. It all began when a friend on LinkedIn reached out to me, bridging the gap that ultimately led me to Graphen. The catalyst for this connection was our mutual appreciation for Deep Blue, the groundbreaking IBM computer that made history by defeating Kasparov in a pivotal chess match.
Reflecting on this pivotal moment, I had hosted a scientist from the original Deep Blue project, hailing from Taiwan, in Singapore. Little did I know that this encounter would lay the foundation for my future endeavors with Graphen. As fate would have it, the visionary minds behind Graphen, including the Founder and CEO, were integral to the development of Deep Blue’s revolutionary algorithm.
Today, Graphen has advanced far beyond its origins to harness graph technology and AI, effectively emulating the problem-solving capabilities of the human brain. This cutting-edge technology is being applied across diverse industries such as banking, insurance, healthcare, and automotive, ushering in a new era of innovation and progress.
A striking parallel emerges when I consider my own career trajectory alongside Graphen’s evolution. Both Graphen and I have traversed every phase of technological advancement, continuously embracing the latest innovations while maintaining a steadfast commitment to human-centric solutions.
Our shared belief in using technology as a tool to serve and empower people underscores our approach to customer and citizen service, emphasizing the intrinsic value of technology when it is thoughtfully applied to meaningful ends.
