TasGRN network reaches 400 sites, boosting safety, security and resilience throughout Tasmania and 2025 Games sites.

As competitors take to the field for the Australasian Police & Emergency Services Games (AP&ES Games) this week, the Tasmanian Government Radio Network’s (TasGRN) gold-standard emergency communications will help keep first responders and host communities safe.

The innovative, mission-critical communications network from Telstra and Motorola Solutions recently expanded to 400 sites across the state to help emergency responders and government personnel better manage incidents and emergencies.

Over the past 12 months, TasGRN has supported an average of 310,000 voice calls spanning nearly 1,000 hours per month, highlighting the value and importance it provides for Tasmania’s first responders.

“From the athletics track to the mountain bike course, the 2,200 athletes that descend on Tasmania will see that our agencies are supported by a world-class emergency communications network that enables them to connect with clarity and confidence wherever they roam across our island state,” said Renee Oates, AP&ES Games Director, Tasmania Police.

“Thanks to TasGRN’s reliable and secure voice and data communications, Tasmania’s emergency services are better equipped to respond to complex and unpredictable events including bushfires, storms and other threats to public security.”

“In the same way that first responders competing in these Games aim to become faster, higher and stronger, we’re continuing to expand and develop TasGRN to help Tasmania’s responders fulfill their mission today and well into the future,” said Con Balaskas, managing director for Motorola Solutions Australia and New Zealand. “This includes bolstering the network with broadband push-to-talk services so that different response agencies can communicate on any network or device for strengthened collaboration, incident awareness and safety.”

Since its initial deployment in 2021, TasGRN’s secure and interoperable communications have helped boost safety and collaboration for public safety agencies and government organisations alike.

Motorola Solutions provides mission-critical communications systems and services for public safety agencies throughout Australia including Victoria’s Metropolitan Mobile Radio Network, New South Wales’ Public Safety Network and Queensland’s Government Wireless Network.

Hack CX's Javin Chew talks with Chwee Beng about Supply Chain 2.0 and they dive into disaggregation as a result of the eCommerce wave which began in 2007. This eCommerce had sparked the mindset of brands going directly to consumers with their products and services.
Of course, supply chain had to adapt to this massive trend.
